Business Description

About Golan Heights Winery

Golan Heights Winery was founded in 1983 by a cooperative of eight kibbutzim and moshavim, making it the first winery established on the Golan Heights. Since then it has played a pioneering role in shaping the Israeli wine industry and establishing the Golan as one of the country’s premier wine regions. The winery farms 6,300 dunams of vineyards across 456 individual plots, growing 19 different grape varieties, which gives it exceptional depth of terroir knowledge across the whole plateau, and head winemaker Victor Schoenfeld leads the team with decades of experience and a firm commitment to quality.

The Wines

Golan Heights Winery produces four main series, Mount Hermon, Golan, Gamla and Yarden, each representing a distinct quality level and style, from the accessible Mount Hermon range to the prestigious Yarden wines at the top of the portfolio. The winery monitors each of its 456 plots individually, tracking soil, climate and vine performance to draw the best from every parcel, and matures wines from different plots separately in stainless steel before blending, ensuring precision and consistency. Single-vineyard wines are made only in exceptional vintages when individual plots reach outstanding quality, and the wines are recognised for their reliability and accurate expression of Golan terroir, while the 19 varieties reflect the ambition of the winemaking programme.

Visiting the Winery

Golan Heights Winery welcomes visitors at its facilities on the plateau, offering a comprehensive tasting that runs through the full range from Mount Hermon to Yarden, while the story of its founding by eight cooperative communities in 1983 opens a window onto the pioneering spirit of Israeli winemaking. The region itself offers dramatic scenery, ancient volcanic landscapes and a distinctive cool-climate character that shows in every glass, making a visit both a discovery of outstanding wine and an encounter with the history of one of Israel’s most important wine regions.

Information last updated: July 26, 2026. Please confirm hours and details directly with the winery before visiting.

Absolutely stunning views and exceptional wines. The Yarden Cabernet is world-class — rich, structured and nothing like I expected from Israel. The tasting room team were knowledgeable and passionate. A must-visit.

We made a special trip from Tel Aviv just for this and it was worth every minute. Bring a picnic — the grounds are beautiful and they encourage you to sit and enjoy.
