About Benhaim Winery

Benhaim Winery is a family boutique winery with roots that stretch back to 1932 and span six generations of winemaking. The winery is led today by Ruth and Eli Ben-Haim together with chief winemaker Itai Ben-Haim. Their passion for wine is not a recent pursuit. Instead, it is a heritage that began long before the establishment of the modern State of Israel.

The family’s connection to wine culture traces back to the Kutner region of Romania, where ancestors made their living crafting oak wine barrels. When the family immigrated to Israel, Eli’s father established the first oak wine barrel factory in Migdal Ha’Emek. Consequently, Eli grew up working as a cooper’s assistant, learning the craft of wine barrel making from childhood. Furthermore, this early immersion in the materials and traditions of winemaking gave the family a uniquely tactile understanding of wine that few families possess.

Wines and Vineyards

In 1970, Ruth Ben-Haim established a home winery in Ramat Chen. Over 27 consecutive vintages, the family developed and refined their winemaking skills in a domestic setting. Eventually, the ambition and quality of the wines outgrew the home environment. Therefore, the family transitioned to a dedicated boutique winery, first in Ramat Hasharon and later at a permanent facility in Kfar Azer.

Today, the family cellar holds an extraordinary collection spanning 46 years of vintages. This private archive is a living record of the winery’s entire evolution. Moreover, the consistency of quality across so many years demonstrates the deep expertise and unwavering standards that define Benhaim Winery. As a result, each new release carries the weight of a genuinely remarkable winemaking legacy.
