Business Description

About Benhaim Winery

Benhaim is a family boutique winery whose roots reach back to 1932 across six generations, led today by Ruth and Eli Ben-Haim with chief winemaker Itai Ben-Haim. The family’s connection to wine began in the Kutner region of Romania, where ancestors made their living crafting oak wine barrels; when they came to Israel, Eli’s father set up the first oak wine-barrel factory in Migdal Ha’Emek, and Eli grew up working as a cooper’s assistant, giving the family an unusually hands-on feel for the materials of wine.

The Wines

In 1970 Ruth Ben-Haim started a home winery in Ramat Chen, and over 27 consecutive vintages the family honed their craft at home before the wines outgrew the setting, moving first to Ramat Hasharon and then to a permanent winery in Kfar Azer. The family cellar now holds an extraordinary run of 46 years of vintages, a living record of the winery’s evolution and the consistency behind each new release.

Visiting the Winery

Benhaim welcomes guests to taste wines carrying more than nine decades of family work, and the story, from Romanian barrel makers to Israeli boutique winemakers, gives every visit real depth. For anyone who values history and craft alongside the wine, it is one of Israel’s most compelling boutique producers.

Information last updated: July 26, 2026. Please confirm hours and details directly with the winery before visiting.
