Business Description

About Pelter Winery

Pelter Winery was founded in 2002 by brothers Tal and Nir Pelter. After completing his studies in oenology and viticulture in Australia, Tal returned to Israel inspired by the Australian philosophy of producing high-quality wines that remain accessible to a wide audience. His goal was to bring that spirit to Israel. Consequently, Pelter Winery set out from the beginning to produce both everyday quality wines and a distinguished flagship line.

In the early years, the winery operated from the family home in Moshav Tzofit, where production took place in the front yard. By 2005, however, the growing operation needed more space. Therefore, the winery relocated to its permanent home at Kibbutz Ein Zivan in the northern Golan Heights, where it continues to operate today. Furthermore, the move to the Golan proved to be a defining decision that shaped the character and quality of all Pelter wines.

Wines and Golan Heights Vineyards

The Golan Heights provides exceptional conditions for winemaking. The vineyards at Pelter Winery sit at approximately 1,000 meters above sea level, making them among the highest wine-growing sites in Israel. The region’s volcanic tuff soil, long cold winters, and cool dry summers create an ideal environment for slow, even ripening. In addition, significant temperature shifts between day and night allow the grapes to build both fruit concentration and natural acidity. As a result, Pelter wines are known for their freshness, depth, and distinctive Golan character.

The winery produces wines across several price points and styles. Moreover, each series reflects a different dimension of the Golan terroir and Tal’s winemaking philosophy. The flagship wines demonstrate the full potential of this exceptional volcanic growing region.

Visiting Pelter Winery

Kibbutz Ein Zivan in the Golan Heights provides a stunning backdrop for a winery visit. The combination of volcanic landscapes, vineyard views, and the story of two brothers pursuing an Australian-inspired dream makes Pelter Winery a compelling and personal destination. In addition, tastings offer an excellent opportunity to explore the range of styles that Golan Heights viticulture can produce.

For wine lovers who want to understand the Golan Heights as a wine region, Pelter Winery is an essential starting point. Consequently, it has built a loyal following both within Israel and among international visitors to this remarkable plateau.
