Business Description

About Scoria Winery

Scoria is a boutique winery in the village of Knaf in the Golan Heights. It began in 2008 as a personal passion project, making small quantities for family and friends, and grew steadily into a professional operation now producing around 18,000 bottles a year, reds, whites and roses from its own estate vineyards. The name comes from scoria, the volcanic basalt rock that defines the Golan, and it is more than symbolic: that volcanic soil lends the wines genuine mineral depth and structure, tying them directly to the land.

The Wines

Winemaker Ofer Turgeman leads production. He studied viticulture at Tel Hai College and later specialised in agriculture at Beit Berel College, and as one of the founding members of Knaf he has a personal tie to both the land and the community. He works closely with partners Yulia and Evgeni in the cellar. The first vineyard went in in 2007, and the winery has expanded carefully since, matching varieties to the Golan’s soils and climate so each wine expresses this volcanic plateau.

Visiting the Winery

A visit opens with the dramatic scenery of the Golan and the village of Knaf. Guests can walk the vineyards, see the cellar and taste with Ofer, who brings the same curiosity to tasting as to winemaking, an enjoyable and genuinely educational stop in a striking natural setting.

Information last updated: July 26, 2026. Please confirm hours and details directly with the winery before visiting.
