About Mony Winery

Mony Winery sits on the slopes of the Judean Mountains, looking out over the picturesque Emek Sorek valley. It was founded in 2001 by Shakib Ertol, an olive merchant who fell for the beauty and agricultural potential of the Sorek Valley, and around 1,000 dunams of vineyards now surround it. The winery is named in honour of Dr. Moni Ertol, a family member who inspired the project, and the Ertol family’s Galilee origins bring a northern perspective to their Judean Hills winemaking.

The Wines

Mony makes a diverse range, reds, whites, roses and premium dessert wines, from vineyards at the foot of Emek Sorek, where the mountain slopes give good drainage and sun. A wide spread of grape varieties gives winemaker Sasson Ben Aharon, who took over as head winemaker in 2014, real flexibility, and his skill has noticeably lifted the wines. Some are aged in wooden barrels inside a natural limestone cave on the property, developing exceptional complexity and elegance over time. All the wines carry full kosher certification.

Visiting the Winery

Mony runs a welcoming visitor centre overlooking Emek Sorek, with some of the finest views of any winery in the Judean Hills, so a visit is as much a scenic experience as a tasting. With strict kosher standards throughout, it serves a broad community of Israeli wine lovers, and guests leave with both a memorable tasting and an appreciation for this corner of the Judean Mountains.
