Business Description

About Recanati Winery

Recanati Winery was founded in 2000 by Lenny Recanati and Uri Shaked with a clear aim: to make outstanding Israeli wines that genuinely reflect the local soil, climate and vintage, and to show that Israel could produce world-class wine with a distinct regional identity. It is now one of the most respected names in Israeli wine. In 2006 Kobi Arbiv joined as head winemaker; largely self-taught and deeply attached to the land, he builds each wine around authenticity, capturing the character of the region, the individual vineyard and the grape.

The Wines

Recanati farms vineyards in several of Israel’s best regions and specialises in Mediterranean varieties that thrive in the climate, among them Petite Sirah, Marselan, Carignan and the indigenous Marawi, alongside international classics like Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. Arbiv has spent years adapting the Mediterranean grapes to Israeli conditions, and that focus on distinctive local varieties sets Recanati apart, with the wines regularly recognised at national and international competitions.

Visiting the Winery

Recanati keeps investing in the future of Israeli wine, expanding its vineyards and researching viticulture and winemaking. Tastings offer a chance to explore a diverse range of Israeli and Mediterranean varietals, guided by a knowledgeable, enthusiastic team, an educational and genuinely enjoyable visit for wine lovers at any level.

One of Israel’s most consistent quality producers. Great value across all their ranges. The Wild Carignan is my favourite Israeli wine — earthy, complex, brilliant.

Fantastic tour of the winery. Modern facility but the wines taste old-world and interesting. The limited Mediterranean blend was a highlight.
