About Recanati Winery

Recanati Winery was founded in 2000 by Lenny Recanati and Uri Shaked. From the beginning, their vision was clear: to produce exceptional Israeli wines that genuinely reflect the character of the local soil, climate, and vintage. The winery set out to prove that Israel could produce world-class wines with a distinct regional identity. Today, it is one of the most respected names in Israeli wine.

In 2006, Kobi Arbiv joined the winery as head winemaker. Arbiv is a largely self-taught winemaker with exceptional skill and a deep love for the land. His philosophy centers on authenticity. Specifically, he aims to capture the character of the growing area, the individual vineyard, and the grape variety in each wine. As a result, every bottle tells a specific story about place and vintage.

Wines and Vineyards

Recanati Winery cultivates vineyards in several of Israel’s finest growing regions. The winery specializes in Mediterranean grape varieties that thrive in the Israeli climate. These include Petit Sirah, Marcellan, Carignan, and the indigenous Israeli variety Maravi. In addition, Recanati produces internationally recognized classics such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chardonnay.

The Mediterranean varieties receive particular attention. Kobi Arbiv has dedicated years to adapting these grapes to Israeli growing conditions. Furthermore, the focus on distinctive local varieties gives Recanati a profile that sets it apart from conventional Israeli wineries. The wines regularly earn recognition at national and international competitions.

Fantastic tour of the winery. Modern facility but the wines taste old-world and interesting. The limited Mediterranean blend was a highlight.
