About Stern Winery

Stern Winery is a boutique family winery on Kibbutz Tuval in the Galilee, founded in 2004 by Johnny Stern together with Ronnie Landau and Ran Bagam. The three set out to make characterful wines with a personal touch, and from the first harvest the winery has run as a community effort: friends, relatives and neighbours take part through the harvest and the quieter months of cellar work. That shared involvement gives the wines a personality larger commercial operations struggle to match.

The Wines

Fruit is drawn from vineyards across the Galilee, whose microclimates run from the warm coastal foothills to the cool heights of the Upper Galilee, a range that lets Stern work in several styles. Grapes are hand-selected, and Johnny Stern and the wider winery circle stay closely involved from fermentation through to barrel ageing, so the wines reflect both the Galilee terroir and the people who make them.

Visiting the Winery

Kibbutz Tuval sits in a quiet, scenic corner of the Galilee. The winery receives visitors for tastings, where the community-minded philosophy behind the wines is very much on show, a genuinely personal stop for anyone exploring boutique wine in the north.
