About Tanya Winery

Tanya Winery was founded in 2001 by Yoram Cohen in the settlement of Ofra, located in the Eretz Binyamin region north of Jerusalem. The winery is named after Yoram’s daughter, Tanya, drawing additional significance from the Talmudic teaching of Rabbi Ishmael in which the name appears. This blend of personal love and spiritual tradition gives the winery a name with deep meaning on multiple levels. Furthermore, the wine series produced at Tanya Winery are named after each of Yoram’s children, Elia, Hillel, Anush, and Hebrew, making every bottle a tribute to family.

The location of Tanya Winery is exceptional. Ofra sits at approximately 900 meters above sea level in the ancient territory of the tribe of Benjamin. The elevated terrain and the clear mountain air of the central highlands create growing conditions that are distinct from the warmer lowlands. As a result, grapes develop with natural balance, combining ripe fruit with the freshness that altitude provides.

Wines and Vineyards

The central mountain region has a winemaking tradition that stretches back over 3,000 years, attested by ancient rock carvings found in the surrounding area. Tanya Winery continues this ancient tradition with modern winemaking knowledge and genuine reverence for the land. Moreover, the village of Ofra, named after the biblical city within the territory of Benjamin, carries a historical significance that enriches every vintage produced here.

Yoram Cohen gives meticulous care to every stage of the winemaking process. From the vineyard through to the cellar, each decision is made with quality and authenticity in mind. In addition, the family-centered philosophy of the winery creates a continuity that is reflected in the wines themselves. Consequently, each series in the portfolio tells a specific and personal family story.

Visiting Tanya Winery

Tanya Winery welcomes visitors to the mountaintop village of Ofra for wine tastings and an exploration of the region’s ancient winemaking heritage. The views from this elevated plateau are sweeping and memorable. Furthermore, Yoram’s personal passion for wine, family, and the land of Benjamin makes every tasting a deeply engaging and human experience.

For wine enthusiasts who want to connect with the historical roots of Israeli viticulture and taste wines shaped by altitude, tradition, and family, Tanya Winery is an inspiring and genuinely moving destination.
