1848 Winery carries the heritage of the Shor (Gelina-Shor) family, widely regarded as Israel’s oldest wine family. The name marks the year 1848, when Yitzhak Gelina-Shor began making wine in the Old City of Jerusalem. Eight generations later, the family tradition continues, with Yossi Shor establishing the modern boutique winery in 2000.

The winery tells the story of Jerusalem and of the Israeli wine industry itself, tracing continuous family winemaking from the mid-19th century to the present. It works with a broad palette of varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Syrah, Marselan, Argaman, Colombard, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc and Petit Sirah.

Its wines are organised into several series - including ‘Generation 2’, ‘Generation 5’, ‘Generation 7’ and a Reserve line - reflecting the family’s multi-generational story. For current releases and visiting information, contact the winery directly.
