Carmei Mevorach is a small wine producer run by Nissim Sroussi in the northern Negev, near Meitar and Omer on the edge of the desert close to Be’er Sheva. The name — meaning ‘blessed vineyards’ — reflects the optimism of growing quality grapes in a demanding, semi-arid environment.

Wine production in the northern Negev has expanded as Israeli growers have discovered that the region’s intense sunlight, significant day-to-night temperature swings and mineral-rich loess soils can yield wines of real concentration and character.
