About Carmel Winery

Carmel Winery holds the distinction of being the first commercial winery established in Israel. It was founded in 1882 by Baron Edmond de Rothschild as part of his vision to develop Israeli agriculture and support Jewish settlement in the land. Since that founding, Carmel has operated continuously for over 140 years. Furthermore, it remains the largest and most historically significant winery in the country.

The winery operates from two historic sites: Zichron Ya’akov on the Carmel range and Rishon LeZion in the central coastal plain. Both facilities carry deep historical significance. Together, they represent a legacy of winemaking that has shaped the entire Israeli wine industry from its earliest days.

Wines and Vineyards

Carmel Winery works with 108 grower families whose vineyards span multiple generations. This network of longtime partners provides grapes from diverse growing regions across Israel. The wine portfolio includes well-known labels such as Selected, Private Collection, and Mediterranean.
