Covenant Israel Winery is one of the most celebrated and internationally recognised kosher wine projects in the world — a collaboration between an acclaimed American winemaker and the exceptional terroir of Israel’s Upper Galilee that has produced wines described by Robert Parker as ‘the greatest kosher wine on Planet Earth.’ Founded in 2013 by Jeff Morgan, a veteran Napa Valley winemaker who had already established Covenant Winery in California in 2003, the Israel project was inspired by a 2011 visit during which Morgan was struck by the similarity between Israel’s wine-growing landscapes and the Napa Valley. His vision was to bring the same rigorous, quality-first approach he applied in California to the exceptional vineyards of the Upper Galilee, working with local expertise and focusing on varieties he believed expressed the Israeli terroir most eloquently. Morgan’s chosen focus is Syrah — born of the conviction that Syrah is to Israel what Cabernet Sauvignon is to Napa: the variety that most naturally expresses the land’s unique character.

He sources fruit from select locations in the Upper Galilee and Golan Heights, areas of high elevation, volcanic and chalky soils, and a climate combining Mediterranean warmth with alpine freshness. Covenant Israel also produces Cabernet Sauvignon and other varieties. The wines are produced using Morgan’s extensive winemaking experience alongside local Israeli expertise.
