About Kerem Barak Winery

Kerem Barak Winery is a family boutique winery in Moshav Bekoa in the Mate Yehuda region, between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. The Rosenberg family established it in 2011, after years of study at the Sorek winemaking school and Tel Hai College, building the project on a combination of knowledge, love for the land and a deep connection to the people who would share in the wines. The winery is named for Barak Shmuel Rosenberg, the family’s eldest son, who died at the age of 18. Barak was a gifted artist whose passion was drawing, creating comic stories and characters including superheroes and imaginative figures, and as a tribute to his memory his hand-drawn characters appear on the winery’s labels and logo, giving every bottle a profound emotional significance.

The Wines

The Rosenberg family planted their estate vineyard on the night of Tu B’Av, the Jewish holiday of love, in a collective effort with family, friends and neighbours. The vineyard grows Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Chardonnay in the Mate Yehuda foothills, an area often called the Israeli Tuscany for its forested hills, boutique wineries and Mediterranean character, so the vines enjoy excellent sun exposure, limestone soils and cool evening breezes. Wine production began in 2012, and the winery operates as part of a broader venture, Rosenberg Farms, which also includes a dairy farm and a visitor centre, so guests can experience the full breadth of the family’s agricultural vision in a single visit.

Visiting the Winery

The Rosenberg family welcomes visitors to Moshav Bekoa for tastings that pair excellent wine with the touching story of Barak’s legacy, with the visitor centre and farm grounds making the experience rich and varied and the beauty of the Mate Yehuda landscape adding a memorable dimension. Kerem Barak is a place where love, loss, creativity and craftsmanship converge in a single bottle, and for wine lovers who value the human story behind the wine, it is one of Israel’s most moving destinations.
