Neot Smadar Winery sits at the heart of Kibbutz Neot Smadar in the southern Negev. Its vineyards grow in the arid Arava, among the southernmost grape plots in the northern hemisphere and the southernmost in Israel. That remoteness is not a limitation but the very thing that defines the wines: sharp differences between hot days and cool nights concentrate the fruit, the dry desert air keeps disease at bay, and the mineral-rich soil adds complexity, giving grapes that are expressive, concentrated and entirely their own.

The Wines

Neot Smadar farms to certified bio-organic standards, with no synthetic pesticides or chemicals, and careful water management is essential in this dry environment, so every vine is closely watched. The winery works with several varieties, including Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscat Canelli, all from estate vineyards on kibbutz land, using traditional methods alongside thoughtful innovation to make distinctive desert wines that have earned recognition at home and abroad.
