Business Description

About Neot Smadar Winery

Neot Smadar Winery sits at the heart of Kibbutz Neot Smadar in the southern Negev desert. The vineyards grow in the arid Arava region, making them among the southernmost grape-growing plots in the northern hemisphere. In addition, they rank as the southernmost vineyards in all of Israel. This remote location is not a limitation. Instead, it defines the character of every wine produced here.

The desert terroir sets Neot Smadar apart from all other Israeli wineries. Sharp temperature differences between hot days and cool nights concentrate flavors in the grapes. Meanwhile, the dry desert air prevents disease and mildew. The naturally mineral-rich soil adds complexity to the fruit. Together, these conditions produce grapes that are expressive, concentrated, and entirely unique.

Wines and Organic Vineyards

Neot Smadar practices certified bio-organic viticulture. As a result, no synthetic pesticides or chemicals enter the vineyards. Careful water management is essential in this arid environment. The team monitors every vine to ensure optimal growing conditions despite the desert climate.

The winery produces wines from several varieties, including Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscat Canelli. All varieties grow in estate vineyards on kibbutz land. Furthermore, the team uses traditional winemaking methods alongside thoughtful innovation. The result is a range of distinctive desert wines with recognition both in Israel and internationally.

Visiting Neot Smadar Winery

Visitors can taste the wines at the winery itself. Moreover, Pundak Neot Smadar offers a welcoming dining experience alongside the wines. This roadside restaurant serves fresh vegetarian food and features organic products from the kibbutz. Therefore, a visit combines wine tasting with a true taste of desert kibbutz life.

The wines are also available for purchase online, with home delivery throughout Israel. Consequently, the unique desert terroir of Neot Smadar can reach any table in the country. Whether visiting in person or ordering online, these organic desert wines offer a genuinely memorable experience.
