About Ptora Winery

Ptora Winery takes its name from the ancient Byzantine city of Ptora. In 2006, an ancient wine press from the Byzantine era was uncovered on the estate grounds, linking the modern winery directly to a winemaking tradition more than a thousand years old. The team sees the winery as a continuation of that ancient agricultural heritage, and the find has become both a symbol and an inspiration, so each bottle carries a real sense of historical connection.

The Wines

Ptora is part of a broader agricultural estate growing olives, grapes and other fruit, and has made its name as a pioneer of sustainable, high-quality production. The vineyards sit on land whose natural conditions have supported cultivation for centuries, and the team works to express the estate’s character in every bottle. Its wines and agricultural products have won awards for quality and originality, giving Ptora a reputation as one of Israel’s more distinctive small producers, where ancient heritage meets modern know-how.

Visiting the Winery

A visit brings ancient history and contemporary winemaking together, with the Byzantine wine press lending every tour an archaeological dimension. Guests taste the wines and hear the story of the ancient city of Ptora, while the estate’s olives and fruit round out the experience, all shared by a team with genuine warmth and pride in the place.
