Razi’el Winery was founded in 2017 by the Ben Zaken family at Ramat Raziel in the Judean Hills, the family returning to this land after Domaine du Castel relocated in 2015. Today Razi’el focuses on experimentation, creative freedom and genuine terroir expression.

A New Chapter for the Ben Zaken Family

The Ben Zaken family is one of the most influential names in Israeli wine, and their work at Domaine du Castel set a benchmark for quality in the Judean Hills. Razi’el, though, is not a continuation of that legacy but something entirely new, exploring Rhone varieties, sparkling wine and styles rarely attempted elsewhere in Israel.

The Wines

Razi’el produces a small but remarkable range. The flagship red is a Rhone-inspired blend of Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre and Carignan, aged 18 months in French oak, while the Blanc of Roussanne and Viognier ages eight months in old barrels and has drawn considerable attention for its savoury, mineral complexity. The range also includes a rose of Mourvedre, Grenache and Syrah, and the winery makes both still and traditional-method sparkling wines from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, a breadth of variety and experimentation few Israeli wineries offer.

Visiting the Winery
