Business Description

Taybeh Winery is a uniquely significant wine producer in the Holy Land — a Palestinian Christian winery located in the village of Taybeh near Ramallah in the West Bank, producing wines from one of the oldest wine-growing regions in the world and offering a perspective on the Land of Israel’s wine heritage that crosses political and religious boundaries. The village of Taybeh, whose name derives from the Arabic for ‘good’ or ‘kind’, has been home to a Palestinian Christian community for centuries, maintaining the ancient agricultural and viticultural traditions of the Holy Land through countless historical changes of ownership and governance. Taybeh is best known internationally for Taybeh Beer — the Palestinian craft brewery that has been producing beer in the village since 1994, following founder Nadim Khoury’s return from the United States with a mission to create Palestinian agricultural exports of quality.

The winery is a natural extension of the Khoury family’s commitment to developing Palestinian agricultural enterprise and preserving the ancient agricultural heritage of this part of the Holy Land. The vineyards around Taybeh sit in the Judean highlands at elevations of approximately 800-900 metres above sea level, in terrain that has supported viticulture since ancient times. The chalky limestone soils, cool mountain nights, and ancient agricultural terraces that survive from Byzantine and earlier periods create conditions for wines with genuine character and complexity.

Taybeh Winery produces wines from local and regional varieties, crafting bottles that reflect the Palestinian Christian community’s connection to the land and its ancient agricultural traditions. The wines are not kosher and appeal to the broad international wine-drinking public interested in the Holy Land’s diverse wine story. The visitor experience at Taybeh includes a tour of the winery facilities and the surrounding village, offering a window into Palestinian Christian culture and history in a setting of great historical significance.
