Business Description

About Alona Winery

Alona Winery lies in the settlement of Givat Nili, on the slopes of Ramot Menashe overlooking the Nahal Taninim valley. It was established in 2001 by Ilana Rabau-Friedman and Micha Rabau, in partnership with Fani Vali Azoulai, a second-generation wine-grape grower with deep roots in the region. Together the families built a boutique winery that is entirely family-operated, from selecting varieties and tending the vines through harvest, winemaking and bottling. The setting is part of what is often called the Israeli Tuscany, a forested landscape of ancient oak trees, fruit orchards and hillside vineyards, and the bordering Alona Park Nature Reserve protects the surrounding ecosystem and adds to the biodiversity that benefits the vineyards, making the winery both a wine destination and a place of genuine tranquillity.

The Wines

Alona produces about 9,000 bottles a year, aged in a combination of French, American and 2,500-litre Austrian oak barrels, both new and used, which lets the team control the influence of wood on each wine precisely. The wines are bottled with minimal filtration, preserving the authentic flavours and natural character of the fruit, so each bottle carries a genuine expression of vineyard and vintage. The family’s dedication has earned real recognition, and in 2007 the winery was honoured as the best small boutique winery in Israel.

Visiting the Winery

Alona welcomes visitors to Givat Nili for tastings in the beautiful Ramot Menashe landscape, where forest scenery, ancient oaks and fine boutique wine combine into a memorable and restorative experience, and the warm family hospitality ensures every guest feels personally welcomed. For anyone seeking award-winning boutique wine in a naturally stunning setting, it represents the best of small-scale Israeli winemaking: personal, authentic and deeply connected to the land.
