Smadar Winery is a small boutique winery in the heart of Zichron Yaakov, just off the town’s pedestrian midrahov. It was established in 1998 by Moty Shapira, a fourth-generation vintner and descendant of the town’s founding families, and produces aged red wines from vineyards the family has cultivated for five generations.

The winery occupies the courtyard of a stone house built in 1890, one of the original buildings of Zichron Yaakov — itself one of the cradles of modern Israeli winemaking, founded with the support of Baron Edmond de Rothschild in the 1880s. The setting captures the deep historical roots of viticulture in the Carmel foothills.

The winery is adjacent to a boutique inn and spa managed by the family, so visitors can combine wine tasting with an overnight stay, a heated pool, or a massage. Tastings and visits are available, and the winery forms part of the charming wine-country atmosphere that makes Zichron Yaakov a popular destination.
