Business Description

About Tishbi Winery

Tishbi’s story begins in 1882, when Michael and Malka Hamiltsky left Lithuania for Zichron Ya’akov and a new start in the Land of Israel. Baron Rothschild chose Michael to plant vineyards in the area, and the family put down deep roots, settling in nearby Shfeya among the vines and farming them for generations. The name itself came later: in 1925 the family hosted the poet Haim Nachman Bialik, who, moved by their hospitality, gave them the name Tishbi, marking them as residents of Shfeya, and it became the winery’s lasting identity.

The Wines

Tishbi’s vineyards lie in the Carmel Mountain region, one of the historic centres of Israeli viticulture, where a Mediterranean climate and coastal breezes keep the grapes fresh and hold their acidity. The wines honour the traditions the founding family established while drawing carefully on modern winemaking, so each carries both the weight of that history and the vibrancy of the terroir.

Visiting the Winery

A visit is an encounter with one of Israel’s oldest family wine estates. Guests can taste across the range and follow the Hamiltsky family’s story and its historic link to Baron Rothschild, a wine experience that doubles as a walk through a defining chapter of the country’s history, at the estate in Zichron Ya’akov.

Information last updated: July 26, 2026. Please confirm hours and details directly with the winery before visiting.
